Anil Kumar's choice of Melo Melo restaurant for the Tuesday banquet
made for decorative dining! Multiple courses of elaborately crafted plates
of food brought forth laughter with each new creation and final applause
for the chef. We devoured Seuss-like hats of stacked veggies, huge plates
of entrées with herbal plumes and cleverly arranged side dish décor,
checkerboarded mousse desserts, and a finale of chocolates. Those of us
who peeked in the kitchen witnessed the imported staff, working in crowded
quarters, who crafted the designer dinners and delights. Immigration and
work was a constant theme in New York.
